Dilip Tirkey is a former Indian field hockey player, Politician and Sports Administrator.
His Achievements:-
• Received the prestigious "Padma Shri" and the "Biju Patnaik Sportsperson of the Year" Award, both in 2004
* Voted as the “Ricoh Hockey Star of the Year” in 2009
• Played a crucial role as a captain in team India’s gold medal win at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, held in Hyderabad
• Played a significant role in team India’s silver medal feat at the 2002 Asian Games, held in Busan
• Bestowed with the prestigious "Arjuna Award" in 2002 by the Government of India
• Played a crucial role in clinching a gold medal for India at the 1998 Asian Games, held in Bangkok. In the same year, he received the "ONGC-Hockey Year Book" Award in 1998
• Instrumental in India’s victory at the Under-21 Challengers Cup Tournament, held in 1997, in Poland
• Received the “Eklavya Award” by the Government of Karnataka, India in 1996
• Secured the first place along with team India at the 1995 SAF Games, held in Chennai
